I Do Details.

This has been a long time coming. Yet the timing is perfect.

After 8+ years as a full-time stay at home mom/part-time COO for my husbands business, I felt a stirring in my soul.

“You’d have to really love your job to keep working….”

I’ll never forget those words. They were spoken to me after I decided to stay home with my children instead of continuing my career path in the corporate world. I’ll be honest, those words really stung. They made me feel like I was making a wrong choice. That all the time I spent working, completing my masters degree and investing in myself professionally was wasted and unimportant. That choosing to ‘just be a mom’ meant that I didn’t love working.

Nothing was further from the truth.

There are very few things in life that make me feel more accomplished, satisfied and appreciated than doing my job well. I revel in a completed to do list, look forward to goal setting and am thrilled when something I’ve done propels an organization forward. Before I had kids, I would say my professional accomplishments were among my proudest. After I had kids, I would say my professional accomplishments are STILL among my proudest.

Every day, thousands if not tens of thousands of professional women are faced with a seemingly impossible choice — do I work outside the home? Or do I care for my family full time?

Here’s the thing, both choices are valuable and important WORK. I never regretted choosing my family and am grateful I had the choice! Yet here I am again at a crossroads. The past 8 years sped quickly by, and I find myself in a new season of life. With all three kids in full day school, I find myself itching to put my career skills to use.

I’m so excited for the journey ahead and thank you in advance for your support of I Do Details.’
